posted Jan 29, 2019, 7:22 PM by Westbury Civic Club President

Below is a link to the February 2019 Crier Newsletter. On the front page, you will learn about a NEW Harvey Recovery program, the HomeOwner Assistance Program (HOAP), which could be beneficial to Westbury residents.  Next, it is very exciting that our FIRST Rebuild Houston drainage project is coming to Westbury, and this first project of the several planned will bring about $15 million of infrastructure investment to our neighborhood!  If you would like to support Houston Police officers who have been injured while on duty, then please consider participating in the inaugural “Back the Blue 5K” race fundraiser (sponsored by the Houston Police Family Support Unit), which will be held on February 9 in the Westbury area over at Willow Waterhole, with details on page 15.

This is the time of year to pay your WCC dues and support the Westbury Area Patrol (constable patrol). Mandatory assessments are due by February 1. Most of our homes have voluntary payments. Articles in the Crier discuss the importance of supporting both the WCC and WAP, so that both mandatory and voluntary supporters understand the value that your support brings. I have already sent in my payment. If you haven’t already received a dues letter, then it is arriving soon, and I encourage everyone in Westbury to pay their dues quickly, so that we don’t have to spend money on follow-up letters.

Regarding trash, this week the RECYCLE collection for all of Westbury will be delayed again by several days and will be collected later this week on SATURDAY, February 2nd! Don’t put out your recycle on Thursday, because collection will be done on SATURDAY. The WCC has learned that the city Solid Waste Department anticipates the normal recycle schedule will resume in Westbury on the following collection date of Thursday, February 14 (Valentine’s Day).

Save the date info: Back the Blue 5k race on Feb 9, Urban Harvest Fruit Tree Sale on Feb 9, Brays Bayou Association on Feb18, WAIC/Westbury Super Neighborhood on Feb 20, Westbury Civic Club on Feb 20, HPD Southwest PIP meeting on Feb 26, Grand Opening of Parker Elementary on Feb 28, and the Willow Waterhole MusicFest on April 13 and 14.
